How to Write a Strong and Compelling Bio

Article writing for a bio is often a fun exercise in getting to know yourself or others. Depending on the size of the bio, you have to distill important information and put it in a readable format. Sometimes boiling down the information can be a great challenge, and through it we find out what we really think is important.

For instance, let’s say you invented a product that can make you rich. Sounds important from the standpoint of your ability to care for your family, doesn’t it? Well, if you are writing a bio for a press release or a news piece, you are probably going to relate to how you came to the idea for your invention. It may be that your product is good for the environment, and you might discover that was your root reason for inventing it. This is the strong part of your bio, writing what was important to you. If you write it with gusto, it will be compelling article writing, and people will read it and recommend it to others.

Sometimes if you’re writing bios about other people, you need to find out what was important to them. If it’s posthumous, a family member or friend will have to tell you, but it’s the same result. You will end up with the important aspects of a life boiled down into what mattered to them. These are the strong features of a bio--and all article writing--because through the “important things” we discover who we really are.
